Maximum Devices Per Port
CS-40 has 5 RS-485 ports and in total CS-40 supports maximum of 64 slave devices but each port supports up to 31 slave devices with daisy chain.
Example
Unsupported Scenario:
- Connecting 50 devices to RS-485 port 0 with daisy chain = one port only supports up to 31 slave devices
Supported Scenario:
- Connecting 31 devices to RS-485 port 0 with daisy chain
- Connecting 15 devices to RS-485 port 1 with daisy chain
- Connecting 18 devices to RS-485 port 2 with daisy chain
= 64 slave devices are supported
Maximum Biometric (Fingerprint) Devices
Although the maximum of 31 slave devices is supported with other master devices, we normally recommend having less than 8 biometric (fingerprint) devices as slave device for performance reasons.
However CS-40 has a impressive processing power of 400,000 genuine matching / 1 sec and 80,000 imposter matching / 1sec.
You can make calculations of performance based on this statistic based on the number of users you have at your site to consider if having multiple biometric devices as slave devices would be acceptable.
Genuine Matching:
1:n matching where the user's fingerprint template is in the device
Imposter Matching:
1:n matching where the user's fingerprint template is not in the device

Visual Face devices such as FaceStation F2 and BioStation 3 are not supported as RS-485 Slave of CS-40.
