In this article, we will see how to change the key value of a smart card to use the default key.
The example used in this article is the DESFire EV1 card.
Preparation: DESFire EV1 card with primary key and never used
- If you have the card issued before, please format it by setting it to the appropriate layout.
Please refer to the document linked below if you want to know about smart card issuance or smart card key change.
Notice
- Smartcards only have one key when issued.
- To change the key of the smart card, you need to format the previously issued card and issue a new one based on the new layout. You CANNOT change the key only.
Case 1: Issue DESFire EV1 from the default key to Key 1
1. In [BioStar 2 > Settings > Card Format > Smart Card], create a smart card layout using the default key as shown below.
2. A smart card is issued according to the linked document.
3. If the key you want to use is changed, select the layout used when issuing the card and format the card.
Case 2: Issue DESFire EV1 from Key 1 to Key 2
1. In [BioStar 2 > Settings > Card Format > Smart Card], create a smart card layout using the default key as shown below.
2. Issue a smart card in the same way as Case 1 - 2.
3. If the key you want to use is changed, select the layout used when issuing the card and format the card.
Case 3: Issue DESFire EV1 from Key 2 to the default key in Key 2
1. In [BioStar 2 > Settings > Card Format > Smart Card], create a smart card layout using the default key as shown below.
2. Issue a smart card in the same way as Case 1 - 2.
3. If the key you want to use is changed, select the layout used when issuing the card and format the card.
