To use the Zone feature, you need to activate the BioStar 2 AC license first. And then, you can use the BioStar 2 Zone. The concept of the BioStar 2 Fire Alarm Zone is similar to BioStar 1's as below.

* For the Fire Alarm Zone configuration, please choose Suprema devices that support "Supervised Input," such as DM-20, CS-40, CS-20, CS-20P, and so on.

Electrical Specification

  • If the Fire Alarm Control Panel's electrical output is too high, the Suprema device's input port will be broken.
    • Switch Input
    • VIH (V) - Min. 3V - Max. 5V
    • VIL (V) - Max. 1V
    • Pull-up resistance (Ω) - 4.7k
      • The input ports are pulled up with 4.7k resistors.

The difference is the number of devices per a single Zone. And another difference is Zone mode.

How to Configure the Fire Alarm Zone

  • Local Zone: It consists of RS-485-connected Master and Slave devices, with the Master device acting as "Zone Master."
    • RS-485 based, the RS-485 Master device is the Zone Master.
  • Global Zone: It consists of TCP/IP and RS-485-connected devices, with the BioStar 2 server acting as "Zone Master."
    • TCP/IP and RS-485 based, BioStar server is the Zone Master.

* Zone Master: Makes logical decisions and controls functionality.
