CS-40's OSDP Version: OSDP v2.2
Qualified 3rd party reader: HID® Signo™ Keypad Reader 20 & 20K, STid ARCS-A/BT & B/BT
Overview
There are some frequently asked questions about connecting third-party devices to Suprema devices through the OSDP protocol. Here is a guide for configuring RS-485 with Device SDK Demo code using the CS-40.
If you need documentation about how to connect with BioStar 2, please refer to the article below.
[BioStar 2] Support 3rd Party OSDP Reader Connection - CS-40
You CANNOT use the 3rd party OSDP readers as a device for enrolling cards.
1. Devices Used and Preparations
In this article, it only includes verification tests on the HID® Signo™ Keypad Reader 20 & 20K devices.
Except for the qualified 3rd party reader mentioned above, additional verification may be required depending on the device specifications.
Maximum 8 devices are connectable to one single CS-40. Each port supports 2 devices with daisy chain. ([Both BioStar] Daisy Chain and RS485 Connection)
2. How to configure 3rd Party OSDP Reader using BioStar 2 device SDK
1. First, set up CS-40 configurations.
Please check and set the SCB key, Baud Rate, and Byte Order before connecting the 3rd Party Device.
Add a link to the API documentation below to see which API you should use.
- SCB key: BS2_SetOsdpStandardDeviceSecurityKey
- Baud Rate: BS2_SetRS485ConfigEx
- Byte Order: BS2_SetCardConfig
2. Once the setup is complete, add the 3rd Party OSDP device in CS-40.
Please note that this article uses the SDK example code: BSDemo -> SalveControl
(BioStar 2 Device SDK GitHub: https://github.com/supremainc/BioStar2_device_SDK)
Connect the CS-40 and proceed with the OSDP device connection.
You can connect 2 devices per port, and I will use the first device ID.
If you are using other devices as well, please ensure that the OSDP IDs do not overlap.
You CANNOT connect 3rd party OSDP readers and Suprema RS-485 Slave devices to the same RS-485 port of CS-40.
The specifications for the maximum number of Suprema Slave devices supported by CS-40 and the maximum number of 3rd party OSDP readers are not counted together. (e.g., If 64 Suprema RS-485 Slave devices are connected to a single CS-40, 3rd party OSDP readers can be connected to other remaining ports where Suprema RS-485 Slave devices are not connected.)
3. Verify that the connection is successful.
4. To test the connection, check if the event logs are properly shown in CS-40.
