Topic. Using OSDP with Suprema Product

In this webinar, we will look at the available OSDP feature with Suprema products.

In particular, we will go through each concept when Suprema device is connected to 3rd party ACU via RS485(OSDP).
This webinar is targeted to customers interested in Suprema products, are considering using RS485(OSDP) with 3rd party ACU.

1. Could we connect the 3rd part OSDP readers to Suprema products without your development team?

No, you cannot connect the 3rd party OSDP reader to Suprema Product without an FW update.  We should tweak the existing Suprema firmware to connect the 3rd party OSDP reader.

Please create a ticket with the project information.  We can proceed with the requirement as a customization process.

We are going to implement this in the first half of 2022.

2. Is the Biometric Verification with OSDP always 1:1?

Yes, it is 1:1 with using it as the typical traditional OSDP.

However, if you use the new Intelligent Slave that Suprema provides, you will be able to use 1:N.

3. I could see FaceStation F2 supports Access On Card(AOC). What is the face template size? What is the recommended memory of the smart cards to be used for AOC?

The size of FaceStation F2 face template is around 500 bytes. You can still use a 1K card, but please discuss with us first when wanting to store multiple templates.

4. For Intelligent Slave Feature, the Suprema device needs to be connected by ethernet and update users with BioStar2?  

Yes, you should connect Suprema device through ethernet to update user data with BioStar2.

5. Does Suprema OSDP support daisy chain or multi-drop connection using a single OSDP connection?

Suprema devices support and require a daisy chain when using multiple devices on a single port.

6. Does OSDP of the 3rd Party require the same version of OSDP of Suprema Products?  (when auth mode 1:1, Fingerprint is stored on 3rd controller Party, right?)

With the traditional OSDP, yes, the fingerprint template information should store it inside the controller.  There are a few controllers that support biometric matching. 

How to use BER2 with 3rd party ACU by RS485(OSDP)

The OSDP version does not have to be matched, but the difference between versions might cause issues.

7. For Intelligent Slave,  what kind of ID of the user of Suprema device will it be sent to a controller? Is that card ID?

It normally sends the first card ID, but there is an option to make the device send the user ID.

8. Are Suprema devices compatible with Mercury Panel using OSDP and Genetec software?  

 As an OSDP reader, yes, it is possible.

9. Any ACU that has integrated with Suprema Devices so far?

Yes, we do.  For more details, please contact Suprema support team with creating a ticket on support.supremainc.com.

10. Could I use HID R10 OSDP reader with CoreStation?

No, you cannot use the 3rd party OSDP reader with CoreStation. We will support this around next year.

11. Do you have a list of 3rd party controllers that been tested with Suprema OSDP?

Nedap panel and Mercury panel have been mainly tested. In addition, you can connect AMAG panel.

12. Is the definition of the OSDP protocol available?

You will need to purchase the document from SIA.

13. Is HID Signo readers tested to connect via OSDP using Suprema Controller?

Suprema as a controller is not supported yet. We will support this around next year.
