When using the BioStar 2 migration tool to bring over end user data from BioStar 1 to BioStar 2 you may run into an error message when attempting to connect to the BioStar 1 database.
"Database Connection Failed"
"[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified"
You need to install the latest native Client onto the local PC that you are running the migration on. You can get it from the link below.
Microsoft® SQL Server® 2012 Native Client - QFE
Once this is installed, be sure to close out of the migration tool web page and close out the command promt. Then relaunch the migration tool from scratch and then you should be able to connect to the BioStar 1 database.
