Backup and Restoration Procedure for Custom Certificates during BioStar 2 Upgrade


This document provides special guidelines for customers using self-generated certificates. It details the secure backup and restoration process for critical certificate files during the upgrade process.



Target Audience

Note: This procedure applies only to the following conditions:

  • Customers use custom certificates that were manually generated.
  • Customers who have applied their own certificates instead of the default system certificates.


Files to Back Up

Before proceeding with the upgrade, ensure you back up the following three files:

  • Path:C:\Program Files\BioStar 2(x64)\nginx\conf
  • Files:
    • biostar_cert.crt
    • biostar_cert.key
    • biostar_cert.p12


Upgrade Process

  1. Perform the backup procedure mentioned above.
  2. Proceed with the BioStar 2 upgrade.
  3. Confirm the upgrade is completed.
  4. Stop all of BioStar 2 Service.
  5. Restore the certificates.
  6. Start all of BioStar 2 Services
