Suprema proudly states our own fingerprint algorithm as one of the top security ones in the world.
AcceptanceSuprema devices use unique algorithms to lower the False Acceptance Rate as the number of templates increases.
Device matching(V1, V2)
- V1 device does not support 1/1,000,000,000(Highest level, 10,000~ templates).
- Except for the above factor, other numbers are the same as V2.
BioStar server matching(UFMatcher)
The number of templates does NOT affect FAR when using server matching.
If you have 500 fingerprints(1,000 templates) and the 1:N security level is set as high, it means that FA happens once the total matching count is 100,000,000.
So, how many FAs can happen in real life?
Let's take an example in absolute numbers.
- Number of Users in the system: 120 (Each user has one Fingerprint registered per person)
- Number of authentications per day: Assuming 80 people authenticate three times a day.
- 1:N Security level set to Highest
So, FA probability can be 1/100,000,000
The total number of matching times per day is as follows.
Total matching count = number of templates * number of authentication
(120 * 2) * (80 * 3) = 57,600
The total matching count of 57,600/day can be 100,000,000 in 1,736 days.
Thus, FA can occur once every 1,736 days, four years, and eight months.
